Aloha Sunday ;-)

Today I had the pleasure of getting together for a short time with some Hawaii Threads members who were welcoming a relatively new HTer, Hawaiidreaming, to Hawaii. Aunty Lynn (seems strange to call someone younger than me "Aunty&quot spearheaded the welcoming after Hawaiidreaming (Lorna) posted a question about how to get a lei greeting. Well, she got the REAL deal and several leis from the welcoming committee. That is truly the Aloha spirit and what makes me love these islands so much. I'm sure it will be a day that she'll never forget. I didn't get to meet the group at the airport but caught up with them at La Mariana on Sand Island Access Road. What a cute place! It reminds me so much of the old Tahitian Lanai and Waikikian. I stayed at the Waikikian several times and was sad to see both places sold and converted to concrete islands. La Mariana has a a piano bar just like the Tahitian Lanai did so I plan to drag hubby and whoever else I can in the near future "for old times sake".

Afterwards, I headed over to the Women's Expo and got my share of free samples, tastings, and entered some prize drawings (haven't been called YET). I can't believe that I didn't buy ONE thing. I must be ill! LMAO (OK no wise cracks please LOL

Finally headed to Costco and got some gas at $2.79/gallon. It's about friggen time that gas came down below $3/gallon!!!! THANK YOU COSTCO!!! Everywhere else still seems to be in the $3.00+ range so COSTCO is definitely worth the trip.

At home having a lazy day were hubby, the kid and the dog. The dog was the happiest to see me when I got home..... she had to shi shi ! LMAO! When we got back inside, the dog started talking to me...I think she was scolding me for leaving her at home all day! LOL She is way too funny! My dog's name is Pepper and she is a brindle Great Dane. She'll be 2 in November. She loves to visit her parents and her "other Grandma", Kalona, who spoils her rotten.

I Felt Like Punching His Lights Out! LOL

Well...went to have my EGD on Friday and, as usual, the nurse had a hard time finding a vein to insert the IV into. She poked me first on my right hand....after numbing it....then the left hand (after numbing it too). I usually don't give people a second chance at poking me but she was kind enough to numb it so I let her try again. When she had no luck with the 2nd try, she said, "I will let the anesthesiologist do it." Great, I thought. What if HE can't get it?? Hmmmmmmm. I was already a bit nervous bout this test and feeling a bit grumpy because I hadn't eaten all day (I had to check in at 2:15 pm). When they wheeled me into the surgical suite, the anesthesiologist started thumping around my arms and hands. I thought for sure that he was going to numb me first but NOOOOOOO, the f*cker went right for the vein and I yelled "OUUUUUUCHHHHHHHH". I felt like punching the guys lights out it hurt so much. Jeeeeeeeeeeez...what the f*ck was he thinking? I have to go to the same surgery center next Friday for a colonoscopy and I'm trying to decide whether to request a different anesthesiologist OR just insist on being numbed first. He tried to be all nice after he poked me but I was too pissed off to even talk to him. Before I knew it, I was awake and my throat was sore. The doctor who did the procedure wasn't even going to come in and tell me anything because he had 2 more procedures after me, but I insisted that he come back to give me a report. Don't these guys learn how to treat patients?? Jeeeez. The nurse told me that the doc had to dilate my esophagus and therefore I would need to be on a liquid diet for the rest of the day. When the doc DID come back in, he was there just briefly and told me the exact same thing. I had to press him further..."Did you find anything that was bleeding?" He said "No" and then left. It wasn't til I got up to use the potty and returned that I looked at my examination report and read "gastric polyp" and "sent for bio ..

Procrastination Is My Middle Name

First of all, I want to thank Blaine and Aunty Lynn for getting this blog set up for me. I have procrastinated in getting anything posted because I have been: a) busy b) lazy c) not sure what to write...oh what the hell....I've been ALL OF THE ABOVE. I just wanted to post a quick note because tomorrow (actually later today...just haven't gone to bed yet) I will be having an EGD to check out WTF is going on with me. I have had iron deficiency anemia going on for a few months so the docs want to see if I'm bleeding from somewhere. The first test is the one down my throat (hhhhmmm....haven't practiced that one in a while so not sure how easy it will be <img src="http://www.auntiepupule.com/blog/smilies/icon_eek.gif" alt="icon_eek" /<img src="http://www.auntiepupule.com/blog/smilies/icon_arrow.gif" alt=">)" />) Next week I go in and have the one up my okole....a colonoscopy. I don't look forward to THAT one at all. I can't say that my okole is a virgin but I WILL say that at least I'll be knocked out while I'm getting knocked up (hehehe). Ehhhh...could be worse....could be the test where I'd have to be up on all fours and AWAKE while one or two docs look up my butt and make comments. Been there and done that!! Back in the 70s I had to have one of those and the doc had an intern in with him. They stood there and discussed what they were seeing as I was on all 4s. I turned around and told them.."Eh..can we speed this up PLEASE???". Having a couple of docs look up the crotch is almost as humiliating....but not QUITE as bad. I hate teaching hospitals for that reason. OK...I was just going to make this short because I'm tired (could it be the anemia or cuz it's 2:13 a.m.?....so I'm going to sign off for now. Say a little prayer for me that the test goes well. More later! Love you Lynn!
