Nobody’s Child

The names have been changed to protect the innocent and to make certain the guilty has no reason to use this as an excuse in court.  Auntie Pupule

She stands studious at five feet eight, long brown hair, and light brown eyes.  A fair maiden and plays the piano beautifully.   Her name is Del.

Steve fell through the cracks of the system.  From three months old he was in Foster Care.  Now at twenty-two and childlike,  he soon will become a father himself.  At eighteen he was no longer a ward of the State.  He was Nobody’s Child.

Let the magic of Christmas begin….;)

This is our 5th year since we started the Slippah Project.  Last year, we became a Foundation.  We are small compared to other Non Profits.  We don’t have an office, employees, or any fancy stuff.  All our donations goes to our Keiki and their Ohana.

When we started, it was just slippahs for the children.  As the years increased, we gave slippahs for the adults too.  Also toys, can goods, clothes and one time we gave two pallets of cabbages from the Food Bank.  The Christmas Celebration at Mayor Wright Homes became an Annual Event bringing joy and good cheer to the residents and the children.  This year will be be held on Dec. 22, 2010 and sponsored by Kaukau Wagon as it has been since we started.

Hopefully, we’ll have enough funds to give to all the keiki this year as we did in 2008.  One of regular Santa’s Helper went to heaven.  And many of the others have closed shop.  It’s tough out there.  But I believe….that the magic of Christmas will come through for the forgotton ones this year.

The forgotton children.

Please kokua.

MAMA’S BODYGUARD!

My MAMA Got Wheels!

I’m here at Dialysis as a Body Guard for MAMA .  She was threaten the other day by a woman in the waiting room.  She was walauing with four other patients.  The woman shouted from the other side of the room and said “What are you talking about?”  They all turned to look at her.  Then the woman shouted and said “Yeah, my phone and text messages said you are the one talking about me!!”  She was reffering to MAMA!!  She threatened her to watch out cause she knows people.

A report was made of the incident.  I am here this morning.  In fact, I am sitting right in front of the woman as I type.  I’ve looked at her several times and smiled.  She doesn’t look like a danger or someone to cause harm.  She’s  quite silent today.  Or am I intimidating, typing in front of her?  I think not.  She’s the interpreter for the Micronesians.  She is the spouse of a patient.  Maybe she is stressed out?  I know all to well how hard it can be of taking care of loved one who is ill.  Especially, one who is in Hospice Status.  Respite care is available for those who take care of the afflicted.  Social Services should be on top of things like these but are often not because of cuts from services.

Four hours after:  My observations are as follows:  Patients needs to be considerate of other patients in the room.  Other patients and guests were complaining they couldn’t hear the t.v. due to loud conversations by other patients.  There used to have an employee in the room monitoring the patients and letting them know when it was their turn to go into treatment.  I observed several patients in wheelchairs having a difficult time going in the restroom.  An accident ready to happen.  I observed splattered urine on the toilet seat and cleaned it up.  These patients are on borrowed time.  They deserve to be going to a clean and safe facility at all times.  Mahalo,  Auntie P.  ;)

Hawaii National Heritage Area

Aloha, The dust has settled but the fight continues on this issue.  This is my passion to inform my constituents and the people of Hawai’i of what is happening.  My classmate wrote me on FaceBook the day after the election “They fear the TRUTH.”  Like it or not, if nothing is done…it will be facing everyone in the face soon.  Please go to http://www.honolulualliance.org for more information.  Mahalo, Auntie Lynn
